To prevent loosing data in your existing program, follow these instructions.
Before you download and install the new program
- Open your existing program and find all or show all records in each file. Go to each layout / file (Customer List, Open Work Orders, Closed Work Orders, etc. ) and either click on the "Find All" button if there is one, or use the records pull down menu and select "Show all Records" If this option is grayed out, you are already showing all your records.
- Make not of what the next work order number would be if you created another work order.
- Close your existing program.
- Go to the directory where the program is installed. Usually "...Program Files/Custom Desktop Solutions/The Desktop Dispatcher" and rename the folder named The Desktop Dispatcher to "The Desktop Dispatcher old"
Download and install the new program.
- Open the new program.
- You will need to call or email us for a new registration number. 561-714-5240 Mark@CustomDesktopSolutions.com
- Import your records from the old program into the new. See video (about 3 minutes in)
- Click on the File pull down menu and select import records.
- Click a path to the old program.
- Be sure to import matching files. In other words, when you are viewing the customer list on the screen, and you select File, Import, make sure you are importing the customer list from the old program.
- Reset your work order number to match where you left off on the old program. (see setup layout for instructions)
That's it!
